Rim Trail: follows the rim from the village area to Hermits Rest; start at any viewpoint in the Village or along Hermit Road. Part of it is paved and accessible, and the shuttle buses let you walk one way. No water west of Bright Angel Lodge. Lupine blooms in spring and summer on the South Rim.; Desert View Drive: the South Rim's one scenic drive open to private cars: 23 miles along the rim from Grand Canyon Village to Desert View, with parking at every viewpoint. Its overlooks sit between 7,096 feet (Duck on a Rock) and 7,461 feet (Navajo Point, the rim's highest), inside the 7,000 to 9,000 feet that skyrocket gilia prefers..
