Every date here comes with its source, but nature and park conditions change. Please read this before you plan around a page.
Dates are guides, not promises
- Usual timing (“typical peak”, “local timing”, “statewide timing”) comes from past seasons as a source describes them. A warm fall, a dry winter or a late frost can move it by weeks.
- Reports describe what an official source saw on one day. They're dated; an old report isn't today.
- Festival dates are when an event runs, not when the flowers are at their best.
- Distances are straight-line miles, not driving distances.

Check before you go
Roads, trails and parks close for weather, fire, construction and crowds, often without notice. Fees, hours and reservations change. Always check the official page for a place (linked under “How we know”) and current weather before you travel, and follow park rules and posted signs.

Catch the Peak is independent. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the National Park Service, the Forest Service or any other agency or organization whose information it cites. Their names appear only to credit the source.
